System Owner – Smart Charging Systems (f/m/x)

Your mission

As System Owner for Smart Charging Systems, you will drive the conceptualization, development, and deployment of intelligent charging solutions across IONITY’s charging network. You will act as the hands on technical authority for smart charging technologies, including load management systems, communication interfaces, and emerging technologies such as RoboCharging. 
You will collaborate closely with internal teams and external partners to define system requirements, steer in-house developments, evaluate innovative technologies, and support the integration of smart charging capabilities into IONITY’s future charging ecosystem. 
  • Define and own the technical roadmap for Smart Charging Systems within IONITY.
  • Lead the development and evolution ofIONITY’sin-house load management controller and related smart charging applications.
  • Define system requirements, architectures, and interfaces between charging stations, energy management systems, backend platforms, and grid operators.
  • Drive technology scouting and evaluation of new smart charging technologies, market solutions, and industry trends.
  • Lead pilot projects and proof-of-concepts for emerging technologies such asRoboCharging, automated charging solutions, and advanced charging automation concepts.
  • Define concepts for grid-friendly charging, dynamic power allocation, demand response, and charging optimization.
  • Support the integration of energy assets such as battery storage systems and renewable energy sources into smart charging strategies.
  • Lead technical development projects and coordinate internal and external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with Product Management to translate business needs into technical solutions and product requirements.
  • Collaborate with(Information) Technologyto translateintegrate solutions into the IONITY backend systems
  • Evaluate supplier solutions and support procurement activities from a technical perspective.
  • Lead and contribute to national and international standardization activities related to smart charging technologies.
  • Support internal departments and external partners with technicalexpertiseon smart charging systems and future charging technologies.

Your profile

  • Master's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Energy Systems, Automation Engineering, ora relatedtechnical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in eMobility charging infrastructure, smart charging, energy management systems, or related technical fields.
  • Experience with charging station ecosystems and EV charging communication architectures.
  • Experience in the development, integration, or operation of load management and energy management systems.
  • Experience leading technical development projects involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Proven experience in supplier management and technical evaluations.
  • Experience with charging standards and communication protocols.
  • Previous involvement in charging innovation projects or R&D initiatives is a strong plus.
  • Experience with pilot projects and technology validation activities is desirable. 
  • Deep understanding of EV charging infrastructure and charging system architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of smart charging concepts, load management, and power optimization strategies.
  • Understanding ofenergy management systems and grid integration concepts.
  • Familiarity with charging communication protocols such as OCPP, ISO 15118, Modbus TCP/IP, and IEC 61850.
  • Understanding ofPlug & Charge and automated charging technologies.
  • Experience with technical concept development and system engineering methodologies.
  • Ability to evaluate and compare emerging technologies and technical solutions.
  • Knowledge ofsoftware-hardwareinterfaces and distributed system architectures.
  • Understanding ofdata-driven optimization and analytics concepts is a plus.
  • Business fluent English (mandatory).
  • Additional European languages are considered an advantage.
